Thursday Thirteen 63/10

I've been on a long quest to declutter my life and get rid of garbage. Since we moved all of our crap out of storage, the clutter has gotten worse. In honor of reuniting with the FlyLady.net site yesterday:

Thirteen Places in My House I Still Need to Declutter

  1. Computer Desk — I have two actually. One in the former living now computer room where my PC resides and Mike games on Saturday and one back in my craft room where my Mac resides. Both become dumping grounds for receipts, papers that need to be filed, etc.
  2. Laundry Room — This is one of the places where stuff stuff that doesn't have a place always ends up. There is also a week's worth of laundry back there that I haven't put away yet.
  3. Dining Room Table — For some reason, our dining room table always collects stuff.
  4. Bunny Room — This is where all the stuff from storage ended up. I either need to get rid of this stuff or find it a new home.
  5. Under Kitchen Sink — Old cleaning supplies, paper grocery bags, etc. all end up here. There is so much stuff under there, I don't know what's even under there anymore. Time to clear it out.
  6. Filing Cabinet — I've made a dent, but I still have lots of useless paper in my filing cabinet. Since a lot of the stuff on the dining room table needs to be in here, I need to get it sorted out.
  7. End Table — The table in the family room where Marcus and I watch tv always catches weird stuff. I know there's a Christmas light string sitting there from a project I was working on last Christmas.
  8. Reclinder in Family Room — I've dumped everything I was to sell on eBay in this chair. I need to either list it or give it to Goodwill.
  9. Bedroom Closet — It seems I've always cleaning that thing out. Why do closets seem to attract clutter?
  10. Kitchen Cabinets — I've decided to start getting rid of gadgets that I don't use, sets that are missing pieces, etc. I've been hanging onto stuff just because my Mom gave it to me. If I'm never going to use it, it needs to go!
  11. Under Bathrrom Sink — This is where unused toiletries go to die. Need to clean it out.
  12. Entertainment Center — I put all of my decorations under here when I put up Christmas stuff TWO YEARS AGO!
  13. Craft Room — This place always becomes cluttered. I have so many projects going on that I can't work on any of them. I need to get everything put away and only pull out what I'm working on at the moment.

Whew, I'm getting tired just looking at all of that I have to do. I just need to tackle it one tiny step at a time and I'll be done before I know it!

Got 3 More

OK, three more movies came to me in that M&Ms puzzle. I still haven't identified 12 of them. Grrr. I know I'm going to kick myself when I find out what they are! Seriously, figure them out so I can get this thing out of my head.

Sadness Is…

I meant to post this Dibert cartoon this morning and totally spaced it until just now:

Dilbert Sadness More Coffee

Maybe all I needed in my past jobs was more coffee. oh oh

While I'm at it, here's a Non Sequitur that I really liked that ran back in August:

One more thing. There's a cool flash puzzle/game over at the M&M site promoting Dark Chocolate M&Ms for Halloween. There's a painting that contains references to the titles of 50 dark movies. I only figured out 35 of them. Go try it and and tell me what they all are...it's driving me batty!

The Ultimate Chopper

While I was chopping up my onions for my chili in my food processor last night, I noticed that it wasn't doing the job it used to. Instead of chopped onions, they came out more like mashed. I've had it forever, so it doesn't really surprise me that it's wearing out. With Thanksgiving coming up, it would be great if I could get a new one. I hate chopping stuff up by hand since using a machine is so much of a time-saver. There's a machine out there I might like to replace it with: The Ultimate Chopper. It's selling right now for $54.95 and includes a free blender attachment. That would be awesome since my blender died a long time ago and I've just been doing without one. I miss mixing my scrambled eggs in a blender. I just can't seem to get them as fluffy by hand.

Gone Too Far

I am so sick of crap like this:
ATTLEBORO, Mass. -- Tag, you're out! Officials at an elementary school south of Boston have banned kids from playing tag, touch football and any other unsupervised chase game during recess for fear they'll get hurt and hold the school liable.
I've had it with this nanny society. All these school system are doing is putting out kids that can't cope with the real world.
